|“Walt Disney: Marceline to Magic Kingdom®” |
You can explore how events in Walt Disney's life helped shape the Walt Disney World® Resort and the attractions within it during a new tour. The “Walt Disney: Marceline to Magic Kingdom®” tour will use the Park as a walking timeline to help guests discover how the events in Walt's life helped develop his understanding and view of the world around him.
The three-hour tour is available Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays each week, starting at 8:15 a.m. You or your Clients should call 407-WDW-TOUR for prices and to register. All guests must be at least 12 years old to participate.
Meals and snacks which are part of a package that includes dining, may be used in any order and in any amount throughout the package stay until the total inclusions have been depleted. For example:
One adult on a 5-night Magic Your Way Package plus Dining receives 5 Quick Service adult meals, 5 Full Service adult meals and 5 snacks. On day one, the Guest could choose to use 2 Quick Service meals plus 2 snack and on day two they could use 2 Full Service meals and no snacks. The choice is up to the Guest.
One adult and one child on a 7-night Magic Your Way Premium Package, receive 7 adult breakfasts, 7 child breakfasts, 7 adult lunches, 7 child lunches, 7 adult dinners and 7 child dinners. The Guests decide when they want to use these throughout the 8 day package.
All dining package components are included in the Key to the World card (which also works as the Resort room key, Theme Park Ticket and for charging privileges). To redeem a meal component:
Quick Service and Snacks
Present the Key to the World card to the Cast Member at the location. They will swipe the card to remove the number of components being utilized.
Present the applicable number of Key to the World cards to the server immediately upon being seated, to ensure the meal ordered is covered as part of a dining plan. (If 3 Guests at a 5 person table are using their package meal option, 3 cards should be presented). This also alerts the server which members of the dining party are using their meal inclusion and which members will be paying for their meal. Servers can assist Guests in advising applicable dining inclusions during the meal.
Meal usage is tracked electronically to a package reservation. Each time a meal or snack is redeemed from a package, the server or cashier will provide a receipt showing the remaining balance of the dining options. For example:
Two adults on a 6-night Magic Your Way Package plus Dining start with 12 Quick Service Meals. If after the third day, 5 Quick Service meals are used, the receipt from the last location visited would indicate a balance of 7 Quick Service meals for the remainder of the package stay.
Guests can contact their Resort Hotel front desk at any time should they require assistance with the meal plan balance. All unused package components expire at midnight on the check-out date for the package reservation.

Walt Disney Imagineering recently unveiled a new interactive queue at the Haunted Mansion attraction at Magic Kingdom® Park.
You can now view a new story line inspired by some of your favorite characters, previously seen only inside the Haunted Mansion. Throughout the interactive queue, you will find new crypts and other “spooky” sights, as well as tombstones with witty epitaphs to the dearly departed, such as “Drink A Toast To Our Friend Ken, Fill Your Glass And Don’t Say ‘When.’”
This Haunted Mansion revamp is one of several enhancements being made to queue lines throughout the Park to help increase interactivity during your wait.
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh attraction in Fantasyland also recently received some queue enhancements. A towering honey tree now welcomes you at the entrance of the new queue, which younger guests are welcome to climb through and explore. Later on, they can communicate with a timid Piglet, stomp their feet to scare pesky gophers out of Rabbit’s garden, drum a tune on Rabbit’s fruit and ensure Pooh has plenty of delicious honey to look forward to by guiding honeybees on their journey to and from beehives. You can even draw pictures in walls of virtual honey poured by Pooh himself – all before setting foot on the attraction.
Guests will soon be able to experience the enchantment of the "Royal Guest Rooms" at Disney's Port Orleans Resort or the relaxation of the Health and Wellness Suites at Disney's Contemporary Resort.
Building on the popularity of the Family Suites at Disney's All-Star Music Resort and the Pirates of the Caribbean-themed Storybook Rooms at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort, these new resort offerings will feature unique design, décor and space options that appeal to Guests of all ages and interests.
The "Royal Guest Rooms" at Disney's Port Orleans Resort – Riverside will allow Guests to discover special mementos left by Princess Tiana's royal friends from classic Disney animated films, including bathroom faucets in the shape of Aladdin's lamp. The rooms also feature ornately decorated beds with fiber-optic special effects in the headboards. More than 500 "Royal Guest Rooms" will open in early 2012.
Disney's Contemporary Resort will open more than 20 Health and Wellness Suites will open on the 14th floor in November 2011. These newly refurbished suites will feature environmentally-friendly design elements, relaxing scents and breathtaking scenery. Guests can enjoy fresh and organic foods from the concierge lounge and private dining food and beverage menu, as well as customized spa, fitness and nutrition treatments. The suites will also include cardio-fitness equipment allowing Guests to exercise in the comfort of their own room.
Magician Mickey Mouse Finds New Home On Main Street, U.S.A.
Mickey Mouse has moved to a new location in Magic Kingdom® Park to meet and greet his friends at Walt Disney World® Resort. You now can go backstage at Town Square Theater for photos and autographs with Mickey – without waiting in a standby queue thanks to the first-ever use of Disney's FASTPASS Service for a character meet-and-greet experience.
The Town Square Theater, located just inside the Magic Kingdom entrance, was previously known as Town Square Exposition Hall. The venue has been re-imagined as a turn-of-the-Twentieth-Century theater where posters proclaim Mickey Mouse as the star of a magic show. It is here that you can enter a queue to meet Magician Mickey Mouse, or a queue to meet the Disney princesses – for whom Town Square Theater will be a meet-and-greet location during New Fantasyland construction.
The meet-and-greet experience begins when magical posters featuring Mickey's various magic acts come to life, enhancing your journey through queues into the backstage corridors of the theater. Mickey greets guests in a rehearsal-room environment amid posters, steamer trunks and stage props. It’s a classic backstage area with a wood floor and ceiling. One wall is brick, the others are papered in red and black – Mickey colors.
During the Princesses' limited engagement at Town Square Theater, they are greeting guests in an area fit for royalty – replete with plush carpeting, lush velvety-blue drapes with gold tiebacks, and a large mural backdrop of a chateau amid green, tree-covered hills and fields.
If you want to meet Mickey or the Princesses, you can either obtain a Disney's FASTPASS ticket or get in standby queues. FASTPASS tickets, which are available near Town Square Theater, designate an hour window of time during which you can return to the theater and have their "magic moment" with Mickey or the Princesses without joining the standby queues.
Disney Junior fans now have even more to love at two Disney Parks with the debut of “Disney Junior – Live on Stage!” The new show replaces “Playhouse Disney – Live on Stage!” at Disney’s Hollywood Studios® at the Walt Disney World® Resort, and Disney California Adventure™ Park at the Disneyland® Resort.
A new segment of the show aligns with the recent launch of Disney Channel’s new multiplatform brand, Disney Junior, devoted to children ages 2-7 and their families. “Disney Junior – Live on Stage!” features old favorites, such as characters from “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse,” “Handy Manny” and “Little Einsteins,” while introducing a host of new puppet characters from the Disney Junior show “Jake and the Never Land Pirates.”
An interactive treasure hunt filled with music, pirates and a dash of the classic Disney magic, “Jake and the Never Land Pirates” became the Disney Channel’s top preschool series premiere ever, and this new segment will create special memories for those experiencing the show’s adventures live for the first time.
The enhanced show calls for lots of interactivity, as the audience helps characters thwart the legendary foe, Captain Hook. The addition of new puppets, bright visuals and familiar songs encourage little Guests to get involved with the treasure hunt through verbal commands and active play.
Whether using their imaginary telescope to find the treasure on a wall-projected image or dancing to the beat to help inspire characters to think of bright ideas or outsmart a nemesis, you will feel a part of the show from beginning to end.
You should check the in-park Show Times Guide for daily performance times.
Entertainment and schedule are subject to change.
When visiting the Walt Disney World® and Disneyland® Resorts will find a variety of services for Guests with disabilities. Many of these services also include options for those with other impairments, such as those who are hard of hearing, have a broken leg or suffered some other sort of temporary injury.
Here is just a small list of resources available for guests with disabilities.
Walt Disney World Resort
Many Guests with disabilities visit Walt Disney World Resort each year. Most Walt Disney World attractions, restaurants, shops and shows are accessible to all our Guests. In some cases, however, Guests may need the assistance of a member of their party to fully utilize these areas.
There is a Guide for Guests with Disabilities, which provides a detailed overview of services and facilities available for Guests with disabilities. It is available at Guest Relations locations within all four Disney Theme Parks, two Disney Water Parks, vacation planners, front desk and concierge areas, and wheelchair rental locations.
This guide provides a detailed overview of the services and facilities available for Guests with disabilities, including information about:
* Companion restroom locations
* Auxiliary aids
* Telephone assistance
* Transportation facilities
* Specific attraction entrance and boarding procedures, as some attractions allow Guests to remain in a wheelchair and some are transfer accessible
Additionally, Guests with specific disability concerns can visit Guest Relations at any of the Disney Theme Parks or Disney Water Parks for additional information and assistance. The Cast Member they speak with will be happy to discuss in greater detail the available options to provide a memorable visit.
Hearing and Visual Disabilities
* The Walt Disney World Resort recently introduced new devices for handheld captioning and audio description, which offer additional services beyond what was previously available at the Parks. Your Clients may obtain these devices at Guest Services with a deposit on a credit card, and there is no charge for use (other than the deposit). Handheld captioning provides a detailed on-screen interpretation of a ride, attraction or show for our hearing impaired Guests. The audio description device provides a detailed description of popular attractions, enabling Guests to better understand what is happening in the show scenes. These devices offer more content and description than simply listening to the voiceover on an attraction and are designed for our visually impaired Guests.
* Trained service animals are welcome in most locations throughout the Walt Disney World Resort. All service animals must remain on a leash or in a harness at all times. Due to the nature of some attractions, service animals may not be permitted to ride. In those instances, a member of the Guest's party must remain with the animal.
* For some Guests, it may simply be an issue that they do not believe they have the stamina to wait in Walt Disney World attraction queues. Best Friends Pet Care, the new luxury pet care facility at the Walt Disney World® Resort, is now open.
All other kennels at the Walt Disney World Resort are now closed. In the future, your pet will be hosted at this new facility.
The new Best Friends Pet Resort is a “best-of-breed” facility with air-conditioned rooms, “VIP” suites and private outdoor yards for your pet. Even bedtime stories with staff will be included as one of the special features at the 50,000-square-foot resort. You can choose from a list of á la carte activities for their pet, including one-on-one play time, social playgroups with other dogs and ice cream time.
The resort’s exclusive dog park includes a fenced walking trail bordering natural wetlands around the park. Inside the trail, there are a variety of play areas, including a 3,300 square-foot area covered in artificial turf, a 4,500 square-foot area with shade trees and a 1,300 square-foot “canines only” water park.
Feline guests can spend visits in a separate “Kitty City” pavilion – away from dogs – in two and four-room condos. And there’s even a special facility for the boarding of “pocket pets,” such as hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits and ferrets.
Best Friends Pet Care is located across from Disney’s Port Orleans Resort at 2510 Bonnet Creek Parkway, Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
If you wish to book accommodations for your pet, you can visit www.wdw.bestfriendspetcare.com or call (877) 4-WDW-PETS.

Enjoy the music of Michael Jackson, combined with the visual effects magic of some of Hollywood’s best, as “Captain EO” returns to Epcot® in early July 2010.
The groundbreaking 17-minute 3D film experience stars Michael Jackson as “Captain EO” on his quest to change the world. With show-stopping musical numbers written by Michael Jackson, and stunning effects orchestrated by executive producer George Lucas and director Francis Ford Coppola, “Captain EO” is a sight and sound spectacular with an enduring message.
The classic musical spectacular thrilled Epcot Guests from 1986-1994, and also returned to Disneyland® Park earlier this year. The film’s return to the Imagination pavilion will provide new audiences the opportunity to experience the original 3D production for the very first time, as well as a nostalgic look back for longtime fans wanting to see Michael Jackson in a rare performance created for the big screen.
“Captain EO” is also scheduled to return to two other Disney Parks this summer, with openings planned at Disneyland Paris and Tokyo Disneyland Park in June 2010.
Walt Disney World Resort said work will soon begin on a completely re-imagined and renamed Pleasure Island and other unique experiences at Downtown Disney. Combined, the projects are expected to create an estimated 1,200 new jobs over the next three years in Central Florida.
“We have made great progress since first announcing our vision to bring new shopping, dining and entertainment experiences to Downtown Disney, many of which can’t be found anywhere else and have already become guest favorites,” said Keith Bradford, vice president of Downtown Disney. “We look forward to providing even more ways for our guests to enjoy Downtown Disney, while at the same time creating new jobs for Central Floridians.”
A nostalgic yet modern take on an early 20th century port city and amusement pier will change Pleasure Island into “Hyperion Wharf.” By day, the port district will draw guests in with boutiques and innovative restaurants and by night thousands of lights will transform the area into an electric wonderland.
Taking its name from Hyperion, the Greek god of light, as well as the street on which Walt Disney built his first major animation studio, the wharf district will feature a lakeside park and enhanced pedestrian walkways. Its diverse eateries will expand dining availability at Downtown Disney by more than 25 percent.
“Hyperion Wharf will offer guests of all ages a vibrant atmosphere and new experiences that can be enjoyed by day or by night,” said Bradford. “Whether looking for a great place to dine with the whole family or a place to relax and enjoy live music, Hyperion Wharf will provide the perfect setting for guests to make new memories with us.”
In addition to the new wharf district, numerous other projects are underway at Downtown Disney, including: an extensive renovation of Lego Imagination Center, which will increase its overall footprint by nearly 3,500 square feet and add new Lego exterior models featuring scenes from classic Disney movies; enhancements at AMC that will take the movie-going experience at Downtown Disney to the next level with new digital technology, a paradigm-shifting Concession Stand of the Future and Florida’s first Fork & Screen Theater; and numerous new or renovated retail shops and merchandise vignettes, as well as additional atmosphere entertainment, throughout Downtown Disney.
Combined, these projects are expected to create an estimated 600 construction jobs, 500 restaurant, retail and entertainment jobs and support 100 vendor and supplier jobs. Other recent additions to Downtown Disney include new entertainment, such as the Characters in Flight tethered balloon ride, the ETX theater at AMC and an enhanced outdoor performance area; unique shopping experiences like D-Street, LittleMissMatched, Ridemakerz , Trend-D and Disney’s Design-A-Tee; and immersive dining, like T-Rex and Paradiso 37 and the recently opened Pollo Campero and Fresh A-Peel, a new quick-service restaurant combining authentic Latin-style chicken and side dishes, as well as fresh, healthy creations such as salads, wraps and gluten-free desserts.

Barack Obama Joins Disney's Hall of Presidents in Major Makeover Showcasing New Storyline, Music and Technology
A remarkably lifelike Audio-Animatronics figure of President Barack Obama enters the spotlight in a revised and refreshed Hall of Presidents show that recently reopened in the Magic Kingdom® Park at the Walt Disney World® Resort.
The figure of the country’s 44th chief executive – which comes to life with recognizable mannerisms and makes comments that were recorded at the White House – is only part of a makeover so significant that the iconic attraction in the park’s Liberty Square has been retitled The Hall of Presidents: A Celebration of Liberty’s Leaders.
